ABOUT HEARING AIDS

HEARING AIDS THAT ARE MADE FOR YOU

Your hearing aids should suit your hearing needs, your lifestyle, and your appearance. With the right combination of fit, style, and color, your hearing aids will match who you are – inside and out. A hearing professional will help you find that perfect fit, so you can enjoy sound like it’s meant to be heard.

WHICH HEARING AID IS BEST?

Your hearing needs are as unique as you are. Here are some of the factors you should consider before buying a hearing aid.

TYPES OF HEARING LOSS

Before you start picking out hearing aids, it's important to know your hearing loss type and level.

Hearing loss is typically divided into two categories: conductive hearing loss and sensorineural hearing loss. You can also have a mixed hearing loss, which is a combination of the two.

If you suspect that you have a hearing loss, your local hearing care professional can conduct a full hearing evaluation.

TYPES OF HEARING AIDS

Hearing aids can be worn in the ear or behind the ear.

In-the-ear hearing aids (ITE) sit discreetly in the ear canal opening. There is also the completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aid, which sits deeply and invisibly in your ear canal. These hearing aids are custom-fit to your ear canal and are suitable for low to moderately severe hearing loss.

Behind-the-ear hearing aids (BTE) come in three types: A standard BTE hearing aid with its receiver behind the ear, a receiver-in-the-ear (RITE) hearing aid, and a receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aid. BTEs are suitable for almost all types of hearing loss.

LISTENING SITUATIONS

Hearing aids are available in a variety of technology levels. Before choosing a hearing aid, make sure to consider the listening environments you are in the most. There are also apps and accessories available for seamless connectivity to your phone, TV, and other devices.

Hearing aids can also be programmed to adapt to your environment and provide natural, pure and personal sound. They even make high-frequency sounds, such as children’s voices and birdsong, audible again and reduce unwanted sounds.

LOOK AND FEEL

Hearing aids vary in size and style. Completely-in-canal (CIC) are the smallest and most discreet hearing aids on the market. Behind-the-ear models also come in several colors to blend in with your hair or skin color – or to stand out as a fashion accessory.

Consider your vision and fine motor skills when choosing a hearing aid. The smaller the hearing aid, the smaller the buttons and batteries.

HEARING AID PRICES

The price of your hearing aids will depend on the level of hearing aid technology you choose. Most Widex hearing aid models are available in three levels.
