Hearing loss is normally divided into two categories: conductive hearing loss vs sensorineural hearing loss, depending on where in the ear the hearing loss originates.

You can also have a mixed hearing loss which is a combination of the two.

If you suspect that you have a hearing loss, or if there are a physical or medical conditions of the ear that cause concern, a hearing test can be made.

Conductive hearing loss happens when sound doesn’t travel efficiently from the outer ear and into the eardrum and bones of the middle ear.
Sensorineural hearing loss happens when there is damage to the inner ear or to the nerves that travel from the ear to the brain.
Difficult to determine where a voice is coming from? You may have a hearing loss in one ear.
