SCOLA for young children

It is important for young children with impaired hearing to have the best possible conditions for communication and language development in their everyday lives.

Hearing tests

An early start is important

It is vital that children´s hearing problems are managed as early as possible, because their language starts to develop during the first months after birth.

Paediatric audiologists generally recommend that young children with a moderate to profound range of hearing loss use FM systems as early as from the age of 18-24 months. They should, however, be accustomed to wearing optimally fitted hearing aids before using an FM system.

Social closeness

In the playground, in traffic and other places with high noise levels, it is important for a young child to maintain contact with adults.

The SCOLA system enables parents to communicate with their child in noisy surroundings. But also during quieter times at home SCOLA can help to create a feeling of closeness between the child and adults. This is significant for the child´s social development.

Enjoying pleasant moments with the family is much easier with the SCOLA system. With SCOLAtalk placed on the table during a lively conversation at dinner, the child can participate fully in talk of the day´s events, on equal terms with other children and family members.
